We started ONSRA building electric skateboards. The VANDAL is what happened when we applied the same idea to a bike: keep it light, keep it simple, make it fun to throw around. The result is an electric dirt jump bike with a chromoly frame, a battery hidden inside the frame and a total weight of just 16.8 kg (37 lbs).
It is built for city riding as much as for the pump track and dirt jumps. In this post we explain why the VANDAL rides the way it does, how the optional add-on battery works, and we collect all our VANDAL videos in one place.
Short answer: what makes the VANDAL so good?
- Super lightweight: 16.8 kg / 37 lbs thanks to a chromoly frame.
- Clean look: the 360 Wh / 10 Ah battery sits hidden in the frame.
- More range when you want it: an optional 252 Wh / 7 Ah add-on bottle battery.
- Ready for rough stuff: 80 mm suspension fork with lockout, hydraulic brakes, MAXXIS DTH 26" tires.
- Natural feel: Bafang motor with a torque sensor that adjusts assistance to your pedal force.
Super lightweight: 16.8 kg of chromoly
Most e-bikes feel heavy the moment you lift the front wheel. The VANDAL does not. With a chromoly frame and a total weight of 16.8 kg / 37 lbs, it stays agile: easy to pop over a curb, easy to carry up the stairs, easy to pull into a wheelie. Chromoly gives you strength without extra weight, which is exactly what a bike made for jumps and city riding needs.

The VANDAL: chromoly frame, hidden battery, 26" wheels.
The light weight is not a trade-off for strength: the VANDAL is rated for a maximum load of 130 kg / 286 lbs, and the seat post offers plenty of adjustment, with a seat height range of 430–650 mm.
Hidden battery, plus an optional add-on battery
The main battery is a 36 V, 360 Wh / 10 Ah pack hidden inside the frame, so the bike keeps its clean dirt jump look. It recharges in about 4.5 hours with the 2 A charger. ONSRA states a range of 80 km / 50 mi with pedal assist and 30 km / 19 mi on throttle.

The optional VANDAL Bottle Battery (252 Wh) mounted on the frame.
Want to ride further? Choose the VANDAL – Extended Range (252Wh Add-On) version, or add the VANDAL Bottle Battery later. It adds 36 V, 7 Ah (252 Wh), which brings you to 612 Wh together with the internal battery. According to the product page, the bottle battery takes over when the internal battery drops below 20%, and you can swap in another bottle battery to keep riding.
VANDAL range test: how far can it go?
Built to ride: city, pump track and dirt
The VANDAL is set up to be ridden hard and enjoyed every day:
- Suspension: 80 mm travel with mechanical lockout, so you can lock it for smooth streets and open it for rough ground.
- Brakes: hydraulic brakes for strong, controllable stopping.
- Wheels and tires: Star Rim 26" rims with MAXXIS DTH 26" tires and CST tubes.
- Motor and sensor: Bafang motor with a torque sensor that measures your pedal force and adjusts the assistance.
- Display: LCD with 4 modes, plus walk assist.

Why we built the VANDAL
The VANDAL comes from the same team that builds ONSRA electric skateboards. In this video we tell the story of how we went from boards to bikes, and what we wanted the VANDAL to be.

The European version
According to the VANDAL product page, the version for Europe comes with a 250 W motor and assistance limited to 25 km/h. The throttle is not installed in Europe and is available separately. Outside Europe, the standard version has a Bafang motor with 350 W max and a top speed of 32 km/h / 20 mph. Please check your local rules before riding.
